Sculptures Alan Sims (better known as Lally) lives and breaths ideas
for sculpture, The Bookworm and Hand of Friendship were simply
created to be tactile. In l983 he had success in The London Woodworker Show winning a large silver cup and two gold medals also appearing on The Woodworker Magazine cover. In l983 he had three pieces accepted by The Royal Academy for their Summer Exhibition. Then in l984 - l987 - 2000 further pieces were accepted with a showing on BBC2 television in the Preview for The Summer Show. This lead to an offer of an exhibition in Paris. He now gives amusing and interesting talks on his time and
experiences with wood, from being self taught - to his acceptance at the
Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Samples of his beautiful carvings are
displayed at each show. If you would be interested in a speaker for your club or society please contact us on 01202 567585 or email anna.sims@ntlworld.com
